10 ways YOU can use Graphic Design for social change! ~ 6. Do a talk or workshop

Following my previous post “Lets use graphic design for social change!” I am creating a series of posts where I will explore 10 ways YOU can use Graphic Design for Social Change. Today’s idea: 6. Do a talk or workshop

Do a talk or workshop for a local community group or school

Offer to do a talk or workshop for local community group or school on the topic of design with a focus on social change. High schools these days offer graphic design as a subject, you may be able to approach the teachers and offer to be a classroom guest for a lesson where you can not only give them career advice but educate them in the area of social change. I’m sure the kids would have plenty of questions to ask!

Maybe you are involved in your local Chamber of Commerce or another business networking group, these meetings usually allow time for you to get up and speak. Instead of just talking about your work, why not share your plans of how you are using your design skills for a greater purpose. This will create awareness of important issues amongst business people and it will also show your passion and enthusiasm for design. You could also run a workshop at a local community college or business conference along the same theme.

The idea is to educate and inspire them! So get to it!
